Expressing sadness at the passing of James E. Chambers, a dedicated West Virginian, veteran, former merchant and distinguished attorney-at-law.

Whereas, James E. Chambers was born October 4, 1922, in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia; and
Whereas, James E. Chambers was a resident of Matewan, Mingo County, West Virginia, from 1929 to 1956, serving his community as a furniture and appliances merchant; and
Whereas, James E. Chambers proudly served his nation as a fighter pilot for the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and was again called to active duty during the Korean War; and
Whereas, In 1956, James E. Chambers left Matewan, Mingo County, and moved to Morgantown, Monongalia County, where he attended and graduated from West Virginia University School ofLaw; and
Whereas, James E. Chambers was married to his beloved wife, Geraldine Kiser Chambers, with whom he shared the joy of having three sons, Robert C. Chambers, Speaker of the West Virginia House of Delegates, and Tom Chambers of Huntington, West Virginia and Bill Chambers of Charleston, West Virginia; and
Whereas, Sadly, James E. Chambers passed away on Sunday, February 6, 1994, at his home in Lesage, Cabell County, West Virginia, bringing to an end a long and respected life as a loving husband and father, respected attorney-at-law, civic-minded citizen and dedicated West Virginian; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby expresses its sincere sadness at the passing of James E. Chambers, a distinguished West Virginian, veteran, merchant and attorney-at-law who contributed much to his family, his community and his state with his compassion for his fellowman and his lifelong commitment to integrity and honesty; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the family of James E. Chambers.
